"Jesus, before his Passion, prays to the Father for his Apostles. He has just entrusted to them the Holy Eucharist and made them ministers of the New Covenant, with the task now of continuing his mission for the salvation of the world.... The Church constantly returns to the Upper Room, where she was born and where her mission began. The Church needs to return there, where the Apostles, after the Lord's Resurrection, were filled with the Holy Spirit, receiving the gift of tongues in order to proclaim in the midst of the peoples and nations of the world the great things done by God." St. Thomas Aquinas wrote, "It is the law of friendship that friends should live together. . . . Christ has not left us without his bodily presence in this our pilgrimage, but he joins us to himself in this sacrament in the reality of his body and blood" (Summa Theologiae, III q. 75, a. 1). The Eucharist is Jesus complete and Personal gift of Himself to us--Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity--under the appearances of bread and wine in the consecrated Host (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1333). Our communal worship at Mass must go together with our personal worship of Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration in order that our love may be complete. Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is an expression of our love for Jesus, who loves us so much that He never wants to leave us and so stays with us day and night in the Blessed Sacrament.

Jesus remains with us to love, nourish, protect, guide, and empower us to help others.

St. Clare: In the village of Assisi, in an old house, St. Clare started an order of nuns called the Poor Clares. They dedicated themselves to a life of prayer, before Jesus in The Most Blessed Sacrament, penance and fasting. The Holy Eucharist was always the total source of their life and strength. St. Clare founded many monasteries of Poor Clare Sisters. They spent long hours in prayer and penance before Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, especially for the poor and those who needed Gods help and mercy the most. An army of Saracens, who didn't like God, came to Assisi one day. They planned to destroy the city and enter the St. Damian Convent where St. Clare and her Sisters lived! Everyone was afraid of these men. St. Clare knew that Jesus was with them in The Holy Eucharist, and that He could protect them. So, she took Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, Who was exposed in a beautiful gold Monstrance, and carried Him outside of the convent to the city walls. Her Sisters joined her in heartfelt prayer to Jesus, pleading for His help. When the violent men saw St. Clare raising up Jesus in the Holy Eucharist they ran away in fear! Jesus in the Sacred Host was St. Clares strength throughout her life. (From our book "Stories of the Eucharist")

It brings heaven's choice blessings in the first place on those generous souls that keep their hour-long tryst with the Lord. But, being such a powerhouse of grace, the devotion extends its influence far beyond the individual adorers, touching their homes and families and reaching out to the parish community and beyond." (Fr. St. Peter Julian Eymard proclaimed, "Today solemn exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is the grace and need of our time. Society will be restored and renewed when all its members group themselves around our Emmanuel."

We need to be witnesses that Jesus is truly present in the Holy Eucharist!

"Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it" (Mt 13:17).
