When we gaze upon the Sacred Host, the Holy Eucharist, we gaze upon Jesus Himself! "Before this extraordinary reality we find ourselves amazed and overwhelmed, so deep is the humility by which God 'stoops' in order to unite himself with man! If we feel moved before the Christmas crib, when we contemplate the Incarnation of the Word, what must we feel before the altar where, by the poor hands of the priest, Christ makes his Sacrifice present in time? We can only fall to our knees and silently adore this supreme mystery of faith." "During the recitation of the Rosary, the fifth mystery of light leads us to contemplate with Mary's eyes the gift of the Eucharist, to marvel at the love that Jesus showed 'to the end' (Jn 13:1) in the Upper Room, and at his humble presence in every tabernacle. With endless gratitude to the Lord for the amazing gift of his Body and Blood, may you persevere faithfully in your priestly ministry. If we can truly say that the whole Church lives from the Eucharist ('Ecclesia de Eucharistia vivit'), as I reaffirmed in my recent Encyclical, we can say the same thing about the ministerial priesthood: it is born, lives, works and bears fruit 'de Eucharistia' (cf. Council of Trent, Sess. OUR INDISPENSABLE FRIEND Who Baptized you, making you a child of God? A Priest. Who, when you sinned, did you go to for the Sacrament of Penance for absolution, making you clean again in Gods sight? A Priest. Who offered Holy Mass and consecrated the bread and wine, that by the power of the Holy Spirit were transformed into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, so that you could be nourished by Him in Holy Communion and consoled by Him always in this Blessed Sacrament? A Priest. Who taught you the articles of faith, preparing you for Confirmation and making you strong in your beliefs? A Priest. Who advised you on family, important relationship matters, and vocational discernment? A Priest. Who when you were ill, disturbed, or discouraged, visited you and counseled you? A Priest. Who encouraged you to sanctity by teaching and preaching? A Priest. Who will be ready to give you the last Sacrament of Anointing when you are sick and dying? A Priest. Who will say your last Mass and the last prayers of Christian Burial over your still body? A Priest. Do we not owe a debt of gratitude to always pray for such a friend? Should we not pray for his well being and forgiveness if he should fail? Should we not pray for Priests and vocations? There is no Holy Mass and no Holy Eucharist without a Priest!

"The Eucharist is at the center of all prayer initiatives. The sacrament of the Altar holds a decisive value for the birth of vocations and for their perseverance, because from Christ's redemptive sacrifice those called are able to draw strength to dedicate themselves entirely to the proclamation of the Gospel. Feast in Honor of the Most Blessed Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit--June 6 "The goal of the Eucharist is precisely, 'the communion of mankind with Christ and, in Him, with the Father and with the Holy Spirit'" (Pope John Paul II, World Mission Sunday Message, 2004).

Feast of Corpus Christi, The Body and Blood of Christ--June 13 O most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee! My God, my God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament! "On the eve of Corpus Christi, 1902, Pope Leo XIII issued an encyclical concerning the Most Holy Eucharist in which he spoke of this Sacrament as the center of the Christian life, in which all practices of devotion have their focus and their final end. He called the Eucharist 'the Divine gift of Redemption,' 'the most efficacious means for overcoming the evils of the times'" (The Blessed Sacrament: God With Us).

St. Maria Michaela Desmaisieres, Religious, Spain (1809-1865)--Feast, June 15 An ardent promoter of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration, St. Michaela spent entire nights before the Blessed Sacrament. She started a congregation, the Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament and of Charity, to teach and house poor girls and spread Perpetual Adoration.

Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus--June 18 "I believe that today we are entering into the reign of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. In the midst of the winter in the world and even in the Church today innumerable little shoots are sprouting up through the snow. These shoots are chapels of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration growing up around the world . . . I encourage you to soak up the healing rays of the Sun of Justice and do all you can to promote Perpetual Adoration" (Rev. Harold F. Cohen, S.J.).

Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary--June 19 "No invocation responds better to the immense desire of my Eucharistic Heart to reign in souls than: Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, may your kingdom come through the Immaculate Heart of Mary" (Words of Jesus to Bl. Dina Belanger). "Our Lady of the Eucharistic Heart, I beg you to give Jesus to souls!" (Bl. Dina Belanger).

St. John Fisher, Bishop and Martyr, England (1469-1535)--Feast, June 22 Faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church, St. John Fisher defended the Real Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist--dedicating one of his writings to this purpose--the authority of the Holy Father and the Sacrament of marriage. His unwillingness to recognize Henry VIII's remarriage led to his beheading, in the same year as St. Thomas More's.

Birth of St. John the Baptist--Feast, June 24 "To adore Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament is first of all to acknowledge him truly, really and substantially present therein by the humble sentiment of a lively and spontaneous faith: humbly surrendering our feeble reason to the divinity of this sublime Mystery; asking neither to see or touch, like the unbelieving Apostle, before accepting the truth of Jesus Hostia; merely waiting, to prostrate ourselves at His feet, for the infallible and gentle word of the Church telling us like Saint John the Baptist: 'Look, this is the Lamb of God; look, this is he who takes away the sin of the world'" (St. Peter Julian Eymard).
