“They have conquered him [satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony” (Rev 12:11) Make a Daily Holy Hour! “Everyone, make the Holy Hour, and you will discover as you leave the divine Presence that if you move among people in the world, they will say of you as the maid said of Peter, ‘You have been with Christ.’ And then at the end of a lifetime spent in adoration of the Lord, and in love of the Blessed Mother, of the Blessed Sacrament, when you come before the Lord do you know what He will say to you? Plead the Protection of the Precious Blood of Jesus! Jesus shed His Precious Blood for us on the Cross so that He might give us His Body and Blood in Holy Communion. The Precious Blood of Jesus is our salvation and protection in the battles that we face. Receive, adore, and call upon the Precious Blood of Jesus often. Precious Blood Prayer:
Father in heaven, may we all be cleansed by the saving Blood of Jesus; may our consciences be purged of dead works. Scripture says that evil is defeated by the Blood of the Lamb, so we ask that the Blood of Jesus cover all who are in need of protection (all civil, religious and lay leaders, our families, friends, enemies, all those for whom we have promised to pray, and ourselves). We mark the borders of our nation and the doorposts of our churches, homes, schools and places of employment with the Precious Blood of Jesus. Also, we cover our vehicles that no one may ever be injured through them. Thank You, Lord, for shedding Your Blood for us. May the Water and Blood that came from the side of Jesus create a protecting fountain of grace, one which flows directly from the throne of God to us Come, Lord, and fill us with Your Holy Spirit.

Most Precious Blood of Jesus—Feast, July 1 July is the month of the Precious Blood of Jesus. This feast was traditionally celebrated on July 1. “I adore You, Blood of my Lord Jesus Christ, which was shed upon the cross in order to save sinners and me” (St. Francis Xavier).
St. Junipero Serra, Franciscan priest and missionary, Patron of vocations, Spain (1713-1784)—Feast, July 1 Filled with zeal, St. Junipero traveled to Mexico and California. He founded several missions and is known as the “Father of California.” St. Junipero shared his great love of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and converted over 5,000. He traveled extensively to bring the Real Presence of Christ to others, despite poor health and advanced age.
St. Thomas the Apostle, Martyr (d. 74)—Feast, July 3 “In the consecrated Host we find...that same Jesus who rose again and appeared to the Apostles and in whose wounds Thomas put his finger” (Divine Intimacy, Fr. Gabriel of St. Mary Magdalen, O.C.D.).
Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, Patron of World Youth Days, Italy (1901-1925)—Feast, July 4 “The Eucharistic Christ was his sovereign Lord, whom he never ceased to adore,” wrote Luciana Frassati, Pier Giorgio Frassati’s sister, of her brother who spent many hours adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and encouraging others to adore Him. Bl. Pier was devoted to the Holy Rosary. He led a life of the beatitudes, serving the poor and sick, with a pure and generous heart. He was a popular youth, who encouraged his friends to be holy.
St. Elizabeth, Wife, Mother, Patron of Secular Franciscans, Queen of Portugal (1271-1336)—Feast, July 4 Devoted to the Eucharist, St. Elizabeth (Isabel) led a life of heroic prayer, virtue, and charity. She suffered greatly before her husband’s conversion from a licentious life. She once went to a battle field to stop her husband and son from fighting and establish peace between them! Upon her husband’s death, she became a Secular Franciscan and established a convent of Poor Clares. Her life was modeled after her great Aunt St. Elizabeth of Hungary.
St. Maria Goretti, Patroness of Youth & Children of Mary, Italy (1890-1902)—Feast, July 6: “Dear Little Saint, never was Jesus more welcome in a human heart than in yours. The Great Day of First Communion could not come quickly enough. In borrowed clothes and head crowned with flowers of the field, you knelt to receive Him into your soul, so rich with Innocence and Love, and this after months of keen anticipation! O Powerful Intercessor with the Lamb of God, inflame my soul with your ‘ardent longing to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.’ Obtain for me the grace to put aside laziness and indifference, so that I may often, even daily, allow myself to be consumed in the ‘burning Furnace of Charity.’ Teach me what true Love really is! Amen.” (From the novena to St. Maria Goretti) St. Maria, martyr of purity, pray for us to be faithful to the teachings of the church and great lovers of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
St. Kateri Tekakwitha, Virgin, North America (1656-1680)--Feast, July 14: “Every day [St.] Kateri woke up early and ran through the woods to get to the chapel, even in the deep snow of winter. She made the journey quickly, because she was going to see her best friend Jesus in the Sacred Host, where He waited for her in the tabernacle. When she reached the doors of His house, she would wait outside in the cold until the priest came to open them for morning prayer” (From our book Stories of the Eucharist). Our Lady of Mount Carmel--Feast, July 16: Mary the dawn, Christ the Perfect Day; Mary the gate, Christ the Heavenly Way! Mary the root, Christ the Mystic Vine; Mary the grape, Christ the Sacred Wine! Mary the wheat, Christ the Living Bread; Mary the stem, Christ the Rose blood-red! Mary the font, Christ the Cleansing Flood; Mary the cup, Christ the Saving Blood! Mary the temple, Christ the temple’s Lord; Mary the shrine, Christ the God adored! Mary the beacon, Christ the Haven’s Rest; Mary the mirror, Christ the Vision Blest! Mary the mother, Christ the mother’s Son/By all things blest while endless ages run. Amen.
St. Mary Magdalene, Repentant Sinner and Disciple of Jesus--Feast, July 22: Bl. Charles de Foucauld wrote of the Blessed Sacrament, “St. Mary Magdalene was no closer to You when she sat at Your feet at Bethany than I am here at the foot of this altar.”
St. Bridget of Sweden, Wife, Mother and Religious (1303 -1373)--Feast, July 23: “Oh Jesus! Sweetness of hearts, delight of the spirit, by the bitterness of the vinegar and gall which Thou didst taste on the Cross for Love of us, grant us the grace to receive worthily Thy Precious Body and Blood during our life and at the hour of our death that they may serve as a remedy and consolation for our souls. Amen.”
St. Sharbel Makhluf, Priest and Hermit, Lebanon (1828-1898)--Feast, July 24: Known for his great reverence and love of the Holy Eucharist, St. Sharbel led a life of prayer and penance for souls. Many miracles are still obtained through his intercession.
Sts. Joachim & Anne, Parents of the Bl. Virgin Mary, Patrons of parents & grandparents—Feast, July 26: Sts. Anne & Joachim, pray for us, to love Jesus in the Holy Eucharist!
St. Ignatius of Loyola, Priest, Founder of Jesuits, Spain (1491-1556)--Feast, July 31: St. Ignatius wrote: “Jesus in the tabernacle is my God and my All!He is my Heaven on earth!”
St. Peter Julian Eymard, Priest, Apostle of the Eucharist, France (1811-1868)—Feast, Aug. 2 “Adore and visit Jesus, abandoned and forsaken by men in His Sacrament of Love. Man has time for everything except for visits to His Lord and God, WHO IS WAITING AND LONGING FOR US in the Blessed Sacrament.”
St. John Vianney, Cure of Ars, Patron of Priests, France (1786-1859)—Feast, Aug. 4: “Without the Holy Eucharist there would be no happiness in this world; life would be insupportable. When we receive Holy Communion, we receive our joy and our happiness. The good God, wishing to give Himself to us in the Sacrament of His Love, gave us a vast and great desire, which He alone can satisfy.” (St. John)
Feast of the Transfiguration—Aug. 6: “When Peter James and John saw the luminous Face of Christ they were afraid. They heard The Father say ‘This is my beloved Son on whom my favor rests. Listen to Him.’ Jesus said, ‘Do not be afraid!’ In the Holy Eucharist, Jesus waits to give us love, light, and life. St. Teresa Benedicta, Doctor of the Church, Carmelite Nun, Martyr, Germany (1891-1942)—Feast, Aug. 9: “It is most important that the Holy Eucharist becomes life’s focal point: that the Eucharistic Savior is the center of existence; that every day is received from His hand and laid back therein; that the day’s happenings are deliberated with Him. In this way, God is given the best opportunity to be heard in the heart, to form the soul, and to make its faculties clear-sighted and alert for the supernatural.” (St. Teresa Benedicta).
St. Lawrence, Deacon & Martyr, Patron of Deacons, the Poor, Rome (d. 258)—Feast, Aug. 10: “Just as Christ laid down his life for us, so we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. My brethren, Lawrence understood this and, understanding, he acted on it. Just as he had partaken of a gift of self at the table of the Lord, so he prepared to offer such a gift. In his life he loved Christ; in his death he followed in his footsteps.” (St. Augustine)
St. Clare of Assisi, Foundress of Poor Clare Nuns, Italy (1193-1253)—Feast, Aug. 11: “An army of Saracens, came to Assisi one day. They planned to destroy the city and enter St. Damian convent, where St. Clare and her Sisters lived! St. Clare took Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, Who was exposed in a beautiful gold Monstrance, and carried Him outside of the convent to the city walls. St. Jane Frances de Chantal, Widow & Religious, France (1572-1641)—Feast, Aug. 12: “Obtain for us, O amiable and compassionate saint, the virtues thou seest most necessary for us; an ardent love of Jesus in the most holy Sacrament, a tender and filial confidence in His Blessed Mother, and, like thee, a constant remembrance of His sacred Passion and death.” (From the novena prayer asking the help of St. Jane Frances)
St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe, Priest, Martyr, Poland (1894-1941)—Feast, Aug. 14: “Be a Catholic: When you kneel before an altar, do it in such a way that others may be able to recognize that you know before whom you kneel” proclaimed St. Maximilian, who organized Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration.
The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven—August 15: “Upon her entrance into heaven, our dear Mother humbly presented herself before God himself. She adored him and thanked him for all the graces bestowed upon her in life. Then our almighty God embraced his beloved daughter, blessed her, and declared her Queen of the universe, exalted above all the angels and saints.” -St. Alphonsus Liguori |

St. Pius X, Pope of the Blessed Sacrament, Italy (1586-1617)—Feast, Aug. 21: “Pope St. Pius X hailed perpetual adoration as the devotion which surpasses all others. And Paul VI had it mainly in mind when he echoed the hope generated by Vatican II that a new era of Eucharistic piety would pervade the whole Church . . . . A powerhouse of grace, the devotion extends its influence far beyond the individual adorers, touching their homes and families and reaching out to the parish community and beyond.” (Fr. St. Rose of Lima, First Saint and Patroness of the Americas (1586-1617)—Feast, Aug. 23 St. Rose “was so ardent in her love of God in the Blessed Sacrament that when she knelt in His presence the fire which sparkled in her eyes showed the flame which consumed her soul. At times she appeared like an angel. St. Bartholomew (Nathanael) the Apostle, Martyr (d. 71)—Feast, Aug. 24: Pray for us to love Jesus Eucharistic!
St. Monica, Wife, Mother, North Africa, (332-387)—Feast, Aug. 27:
“We desired with all our hearts to drink from the streams of Your heavenly fountain” (St. Augustine speaking of his mother St. Monica). St. Monica prayed unceasingly for her son St. Augustine’s conversion.
St. Augustine, Bishop, Doctor of the Church, N. Africa, (354-430)—Feast, Aug. 28: “Lord Jesus, our Savior, let us now come to You. Our hearts are cold; Lord, warm them with Your selfless Love.
Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary—Feast, Sept. 8: “Come, one and all, let us joyfully celebrate the birth of the joy of all the world! Today, departing from the nature of earth, heaven has been formed upon earth. This day is the beginning of the world’s salvation” (St. John Damascene).
St. Peter Claver, Jesuit Priest, Spain, Patron of Black Missions (1580-1654)—Feast, Sept. 9: Nourished and sustained by Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, and Mary's intercession, this well-educated Jesuit spent his life caring for black slaves in South America, vowing to be “the slave of the blacks forever.” St. Peter baptized 40,000 black slaves and brought them God's healing love through Holy Communion. With loving patience he fed, clothed and ministered to the sick, reflecting God's love. St. Peter is the patron of all missions to the black people.
The Exaltation of the Holy Cross—Feast, Sept. 14: “The Eucharist flows from the Passion of Christ. When we come to the Blessed Sacrament WE COME TO THE CROSS. During our holy hour we lift up to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus those souls in most need of His mercy. During our holy hour, those in most need of His mercy are stamped and marked with the Precious Blood of Jesus. This includes those who are to die that day. Stamped with the Precious Blood of Jesus, they are saved.... If only we knew the value of a holy hour we would never miss a single day without making one... Jesus said ‘And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.’ (Jn 12:32) With each holy hour we draw upon the parish and the world the graces He won for us at Calvary. Our Lady of Sorrows: “Behold your Mother!” (Jn 19:27)—Feast, Sept. 15: “Consequently, every time we approach the Body and Blood of Christ in the eucharistic liturgy, we also turn to her who, by her complete fidelity, received Christ’s sacrifice for the whole Church. The Synod Fathers rightly declared that “Mary inaugurates the Church’s participation in the sacrifice of the Redeemer.” She is the Immaculata, who receives God’s gift unconditionally and is thus associated with his work of salvation. Mary of Nazareth, icon of the nascent Church, is the model for each of us, called to receive the gift that Jesus makes of himself in the Eucharist.” (Pope Benedict XVI, Sacramentum Caritatis, 33)
St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist, Patron of Bankers and Accountants—Feast, Sept. 21: “Jesus took some bread and when He had said the blessing He broke it and gave it to the disciples. ‘Take it and eat,’ He said, ‘this is my body.’ Then He took a cup and when He had returned thanks He gave it to them. ‘Drink all of you from this,’ He said, ‘for this is my blood’” (Matthew 26:26-28).
St. Pio of Pietrelcina, Franciscan Priest, Stigmatist, Mystic, Italy (1887-1968)—Feast, Sept. 23: “My heart feels as if it were being drawn by a superior force each morning just before uniting with Him in the Blessed Sacrament. I have such a thirst and hunger before receiving Him that it's a wonder I don't die of anxiety. I was hardly able to reach the Divine Prisoner in order to celebrate Mass. When Mass ended I remained with Jesus to render Him thanks. My thirst and hunger do not diminish after I have received Him in the Blessed Sacrament, but rather, increase steadily. Oh, how sweet was the conversation I held with Paradise this morning. The Heart of Jesus and my own, if you will pardon my expression, fused. They were no longer two hearts beating but only one. My heart disappeared as if it were a drop in the ocean.” (St. Padre Pio)
